HashTab 6.0.0.34

HashTab is a program for checking the integrity and authenticity of files and distributions by calculating a checksum. The software supports a large number of hashing algorithms: CRC, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-3, RipeMD and Whirlpool. In addition to the listed algorithms, HashTab is able to check Bittorrent files, magnet links.

The software is compatible with all versions of 32 and 64-bit Windows. There is a Russian-language interface. HashTab is distributed free of charge for home use.

How to use the HashTab utility?

Important! The main hashing algorithms are: CRC32, SHA-1, MD5.

After installation, the utility is automatically integrated into the interface for working with the file system. To work with the program, just right-click on any file and open the “Properties” item.

Instructions for calculating the integrity and authenticity of files:

  • After opening the file properties, it is recommended to go to the “File hash sums” tab.
  • Click on the “Compare files” button. A window will open in which you will need to select a file for comparison. For example, the one that was downloaded from the Internet.
  • In the “Hash comparison” section, the hash sum of the second file will be displayed. On the left side opposite this sum, a red cross or a green check mark will appear, indicating the similarity or lack of similarity of the files.
  • To change file verification algorithms or add a few more, you need to click on the “Settings” button, which is located under the table with the hash value.
  • A window will open where you need to select the algorithm that will be used to check the two distributions. On the right side there are buttons that allow you to select all algorithms at once, or remove them and select only one of them. Click the “OK” button to agree with the changes made.
  • If you click on the button in the context menu “Copy Magnet Link -> urn:sha1:” and “Copy Magnet Link -> urn:md5:”, then a Magnet link will be sent to the PC clipboard. With its help, you can find a file in peer-to-peer networks. The document will be found only if it is available in the peer-to-peer network.

HashTab is an easy-to-learn utility. It is mainly used by programmers to identify a unique identifier and compare files. HashTab may be needed by users who have downloaded files from untrusted sources — to check the authenticity of files and distributions.
